What is CODE BLUE?

What is CODE BLUE?

CODE BLUE is an international talks where the world's top class information security specialists gather to give cutting edge talks, and is a place for all participants to exchange information and interact beyond borders and languages.

CODE BLUE will be inviting well-known researchers from all over the world to share their latest findings, as well as discovering researchers in Japan and other Asian nations, and disseminating their findings and achievements to the world.

In the medical world, the phrase "CODE BLUE" means "emergency situation" and in some cases "relative staff need to gather in a designated area." As technology and society move forward and IoT (Internet of Things) is becoming a reality, security is increasingly becoming an urgent issue. The Internet world also needs to gather not only engineers but also researchers from a wide range of fields, such as legal and policy experts, to collaborate and think together about ways to respond to emergency situations, and come up with possible solutions.

For more than 10 years since the first event in 2013, the conference has served as a platform for the international cybersecurity community from a vendor-neutral standpoint, providing opportunities to share the latest trends and new knowledge and to expand networking opportunities.

Furthermore, CODE BLUE continues to provide financial and human network support to nurture the next generation. We have awarded scholarships to excellent young researchers, actively accepted student staff for event operations and for CBNOC(CODE BLUE Network Operation Center) organized by volunteer network engineers.

CODE BLUE aims to be a place where international connections and communities form and grow, and will contribute to a better Internet world by connecting people through CODE (technology), beyond and across the BLUE (oceans).

Hiroaki Kikuchi

Cyberspace has become a part of the public domain where everyone can now easily communicate and interact.
This ease of interaction has introduced new challenges, impacting security, geopolitical, and supply chains to name a few. Despite these challenges, Japan still faces a severe shortage of security talent and needs to fill this deficit in order to play an active role in building a strong and vibrant future.
The first “CODE BLUE” conference was held in Tokyo in 2014 as a vendor-neutral international conference where world-class experts gather. It has grown to be recognized worldwide as a gathering to share the latest news on vulnerabilities, present research findings, and used as a forum for in-depth discourse and social networking.
The conference is open to all, regardless of the field of information security, and we welcome presentations of innovative and creative research for any of those fields in information security. We are genuinely looking forward to connecting with members of the security community from any countries, backgrounds, and professions to foster a constructive environment where we will work to find ways to improve the security of not only ourselves and those around us, but also society as a whole.
