[NTT DATA INTELLILINK Corporation]Vulnerability Management in the Frontier AI Era: Closing the Gap Between Attackers and Defenders
DAY 2
11:30-
12:00
Frontier AI has given attackers both the ability to discover vulnerabilities at unprecedented scale and the capability to automate attacks. Vulnerabilities in open-source software (OSS) that remained undiscovered for years are now being identified by the hundreds within a short period. The time between vulnerability disclosure and the appearance of exploit code has also shrunk dramatically, often to the same day.
Meanwhile, traditional vulnerability management practices on the defensive side have struggled to keep pace with this accelerating threat landscape. As a result, a significant gap has emerged between attackers and defenders.
In this session, we will first examine the immediate actions organizations should take, drawing on recent recommendations issued by Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) and the Bank of Japan in May 2026 regarding short-term responses to AI-driven cyber threats. The fundamentals of vulnerability management have not changed. However, as the volume of vulnerabilities increases and remediation windows become shorter, organizations must prioritize and respond with greater speed and efficiency.
We will then explore the next challenge: building mechanisms to close the widening gap between attackers and defenders. To sustain rapid responses in the face of AI-accelerated attacks, defenders must also leverage AI as part of their security strategy. The session will present an AI-enabled approach to vulnerability management that streamlines the entire process from vulnerability discovery to remediation, helping organizations respond at the speed required in the Frontier AI era.
